The James River boys took third place in the Region 2C swim meet at the Christiansburg Aquatic Center last Thursday. The Radford boys and Glenvar girls won team championships as the Three Rivers District dominated the meet.
“Huge congratulations to our boys team,” said coach Yana Williams.
River’s Nathan Etzler won two region championships in the meet. He took the 50 Freestyle as well as the 100 Backstroke. Walker Wilson placed second in the 50 Free and 100 Butterfly to qualify for the state meet.
James River boys finished third in two different relay events. The team of Etzler, Wilson, Cameron Rodgers and Colin Cook took thirds in both the 200 Medley and 200 Free relays.
Those swimmers will advance to the Virginia High School League Class 2 state meet in Richmond on Thursday. The meet will be held at the Swim RVA pool.
