Paul Thomas Consiglio passed away peacefully at his home in Troutville on the evening of Sunday, February 20, 2022, at the age of 84.

He was born and raised in College Point, N.Y., and was the son of Salvatore Consiglio, born in San Giuseppe Jato, Palermo, Italy and Ann Spillett of College Point, N.Y.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Erna “Cookie;” his six children and their spouses, Janice Mobley (Larry) of Newport News, Raymond Consiglio (Carol) of Orlando, Fla., Vincent Consiglio of Levittown, N.Y., Karen Consiglio (Ron Johnson) of Herndon, Va., Michael Consiglio (Jessica) of Franklin, Tenn., and Steven Consiglio of Richmond; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Paul was best known throughout his life as someone always ready with a song and a quick quip. He kept both his music and his humor going, even in his final days. He brought pleasure to many as he sang and played piano in nursing/retirement homes even through 2019.

In his last several working years through 2018 as a Botetourt County school bus driver known as “Mr. Paul,” he brought joy and laughter to his young charges and enjoyed greeting the students each day.

The funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 26, at St. Philip Lutheran Church in Roanoke. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 9 p.m. on Friday, February 25, at Oakey’s North Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Carilion Hospice or to the community outreach fund at St. Philip Lutheran Church in Roanoke. Online condolences may be made at www.oakeys.com.
