Special shopping day at Solomon’s Mission
This Thursday, March 3, is a special shopping day at Solomon’s Mission on Lowe Street in Buchanan. Seniors age 55 and older can shop from noon to 2 p.m. and Botetourt County students can shop from 2:30 to 5 p.m.
Ash Wednesday service at Andrew Chapel UMC
Andrew Chapel United Methodist Church will observe the first day of the Lenten season with an Ash Wednesday service on March 2 at 7 p.m. This service is open to the community and all are welcome.
Andrew Chapel is located at 3936 Beaver Dam Road, just off Springwood Road in Springwood.
St. Mark’s Episcopal Community Ash Wednesday Service
St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Fincastle will have an Ash Wednesday Service on Wednesday, March 2 at 7 p.m. in the church sanctuary and by Zoom. Imposition of Ashes will be offered. All are welcome. BAMA schedules Lenten services
The Buchanan Area Ministerial Association (BAMA) will be sponsoring Lenten services for the community during the season of Lent on Tuesdays:
- March 8 at noon at Lithia United Methodist Church
- March 15 at 7 p.m. at Solomon’s Mission
- March 22 at noon at Trinity United Methodist Church
- March 29 at noon at Virginia Presbyterian Church
- April 5 at noon at Limestone Park under the Pavilion
St. Mark’s Episcopal having Lenten soup and salad with historical theology talks
What do you know about Anthropology? Do you have a High Anthropology or a Low Anthropology? What does the Bible Say? What does the Bible Say about Humanity? What About God? Anyone interested is invited for soup and salad and a historical theology talk about these weighty questions.
Talks begin on Wednesday, March 9 and go through April 6. Food will be offered (no charge) in the church’s Ministry Center at 221 S. Roanoke Street, next to the post office. The talks begin at 7 p.m.
Speakers include David Zahl, managing editor of Mockingbird Ministries; The Rev. Dr. Todd Brewer, New Testament scholar; Dr. Ned Wisnefske; Charles and Helen Schumann, professor of Lutheran Theology at Roanoke College; and other highly regarded and noted speakers. Talks will be 15-20 minutes with 10 minutes of questions and answers. All are welcome.

Shiloh Cemetery needs donations
Shiloh Methodist Church Cemetery is asking for those who have loved ones buried in the cemetery or own plots to give monetary donations to help with the upkeep of the cemetery.

Bowman will lead women’s conference at Colonial Baptist
Internationally known speaker and CEO of Dare for More Ministries, Reba Bowman, will hold a women’s event on March 12 at Colonial Baptist Church in Blue Ridge. Cost to attend the event is $5 and is due by March 8 by registering online at www.cbcblueridge.org.
The title of the conference is “The Fighter” and will include two sessions entitled “Three Battles” and “The Greatest Strategy for Fighting.” The conference begins at 8:15 a.m. with check in and a light breakfast. Sessions begin at 9 a.m. and the conference ends at 12:30 p.m. During the break, you are free to shop at Reba’s marketplace.
