Music boxes come in all shapes and sizes. This handmade wooden grape design was made in Germany in the 1800s. It winds up underneath and sits on a wooden stand that displays it nicely. It was sent to New York City in the late 19th century and brought to Botetourt in the 1930s. Madeleine Bunn used it in her home before donating it to the Botetourt County History Museum. Music boxes were developed from musical snuff boxes in the 18th century and originally called “carillions a musique.”
