The James River Boys’ Basketball program will be holding its’ 11th annual fundraising golf tournament at the Botetourt Golf & Swim Club on August 20th. The team is looking to host enough teams for a shotgun start, and the tournament-style will be a four-person captain’s choice. Funds raised will go directly towards the basketball team’s equipment, gear, and travel expenses.

“It’s always a great time, and we’ve been blessed to have great community support throughout the years,” said River coach Ethan Humphries. “To see the various businesses throughout the county that are willing to sponsor us is pretty humbling for our guys. It’s always nice to see some of our alums as well. It means a lot they would come out to support us.”

Last year’s winner held a team score of 57. The cost of participating is $300 per team, and hole sponsors are also available. If interested, please get in touch with coach Ethan Humphries at ehumphries@rcps.us.

“The tournament is a great process for our guys,” said Humphries. “Any time they can get out in the community and network around, I think it gives them a great experience going forwards.”
