David Allen Carr, 79, of Botetourt County, went to be with the Lord Friday, July 22, 2022.

David was born December 20, 1942 in Roanoke and was the son of the late George Donald and Sylvia Crawford Carr.

He was a veteran of The United States Air Force, honorably discharged with the rank of Staff Sergeant and part of the 96th Air Force Civil Engineers Squadron. David spent the majority of his working career at the N&W Railroad, IT&T, and 35 years at General Electric in Quality Control. In his free time, he enjoyed fast cars, studying inventions, competing with archery and pistols, and farming.

In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his stepmother, Josephine Carr; and his brother, George Michael Carr.

He is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Sharon Luck Carr; daughter, Kathleen Susanne Collins (Michael); stepdaughter, Pamela Elaine Dotson (David); stepson, Brian Allan Cundiff (Carolyn); and stepgrandchildren, Rachel, Kaitlyn, Samuel, and Luke.

A graveside service with full military honors will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 27, at Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, 5070 Cove Road, Roanoke with the Rev. Richard Jarrell officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made in David’s memory to Shenandoah Baptist Church Building Fund, 6520 Williamson Road, Roanoke, 24019.
