Blacksburg High School will be the site of the annual Metro Cross Country Meet today, and both Lord Botetourt and James River are scheduled to compete. The annual meet, which was first held in the ’70s, will include most of the schools in the Roanoke Valley.
Last week Lord Botetourt competed in a meet at the Salem Municipal Golf Course in Salem. The girls finished third with Erna Dietrich taking first place overall with a time of 20:30. Hattie Haggerty was second in 22:14 and Alexa Carillo finished in 24:57.
“The girls had some really impressive times, with a few personal records,” said coach Elizabeth Wilson.
The boys were fourth with Cole Stelter leading LB with a third place finish in 17:01. Carter Hudson was fourth just two seconds behind Cole in 17:03 and Tristen Marshall was 20th.
“They all ran such a good race against some fast times,” said Wilson. “Both boys and girls competed so well and made some really good moves.”
