The James River basketball team will tip-off the hoop season with a special event at the high school this Saturday evening. “Saturday Night Kickoff” will be from 6 to 8 p.m. and feature all the River and Central Academy basketball teams.
The event is free to the public but fans are asked to bring one canned food item per person that will be donated to a local shelter. The event will be highlighted by a boys exhibition game between the varsity and an alumni team as well as a girls intra-squad scrimmage.
“It will be a community event where we will introduce the teams and have some fun shooting and skill competitions,” said River boys coach Ethan Humphries.
