Navy veteran thanks Central Academy Middle School
On behalf of all veterans who attended the Veterans Day celebration sponsored by the Central Academy Middle School students and staff, thank you for a wonderful presentation and for your recognition of veterans from all branches of service.
The musical and narrative presentations were outstanding, as was the breakfast provided to veterans and spouses before the ceremony.
A special thank you to the students who made Veterans Day cards and sent them to those of us who served.
Thank you again, and God bless.

Eagle Rock resident notes psychologist’s autism research
Recently, the Botetourt County Chamber of Commerce sponsored a workshop for parents of children with autism. Not mentioned in the announcement article was the significant research done by Matthew Hertenstein, a research psychologist, on identifying autism at a much earlier age than normally thought possible. Based upon working with his own child, he has determined that when autism is discovered at earlier ages, it seems to be possible to interact with the child in ways that help to re-wire the brain to normal functioning. I hope this additional resource might be useful to some parents to help their child.
