The Lord Botetourt and James River swim teams were among 27 schools that sent swimmers to the Christiansburg Aquatic Center last Saturday for the traditional season opening meet. The Cave Spring girls and Science Hill boys, from Tennessee, were team winners on a busy day in the water.

The Lord Botetourt girls were 12th as a team, paced by Layne Jones who was took second place in the 200 freestyle event. LB had many other personal bests.

The James River boys took 21st in the team standings. Walker Wilson placed seventh in the 50 Freestyle and 11th in the 100 Butterfly.

Both teams were back in the pool on Tuesday of this week, but results were too late for publication. The Knights had a meet at the Botetourt YMCA and LB was at the Salem YMCA.
