The Lord Botetourt boys basketball team rallied from behind in the second half to defeat Fluvanna in overtime last Saturday. LB took a 74-69 win at the Bob Johnson Invitational in Daleville.
“Incredible comeback,” said LB coach Andrew Hart. “We showed great resiliency. Guys stepped up and made big plays on both ends and we gutted out a victory in OT.”
The Cavs trailed 39-27 at the half and trailed by as many as 21 points in the third quarter before rallying for the win. Jackson Crawford scored 28 points and had five steals for the Cavaliers while Evan Bannwart had 26. Tyler Meade had 13 points and led the team with both seven rebounds and five assists.
Combined with a 69-66 win over Floyd last week the Cavaliers are now 4-1 to open the season. They’re scheduled to play at Blacksburg tonight in their last game before Christmas.
Next week LB will play in a four-team invitational in Spotswood, beginning Wednesday, December 28 when the Cavs play E.C. Glass and host Spotswood takes on Staunton. On December 29 the two winners meet for the championship with the two Wednesday losers playing for third place.
