The Lord Botetourt track team returned to the oval after the holiday break with a meet at VMI last weekend and had some strong performances.
Zion Woody beat his personal record in the 55m with a 6.85 while Rye Jackson qualified for states in the 500m with a time of 110.42. This was also the first meet for Read Mountain Middle School kids and Madeleine Gantzhorn, an 8th grader, ran an impressive 6.49 in the 1600m to place in the top 10. John Moughrabi and Preston Vaughn, both 8th graders, ran under six minutes in the 1600.
“Our coaching staff is excited to see what the future holds for these youngsters,” said LB coach Michelle Gantzhorn.
This week both LB and James River will compete in a meet at Liberty University.
