Fincastle UMC Lenten Services
Fincastle United Methodist Church invites the public to five Wednesday Lenten Services and Lunches, beginning on March 1, in the Family Life Center, 137 S. Church Street, Fincastle. These 20-minute services begin at 12:05 p.m. and will be led by area pastors. A home-cooked lunch will follow each service. The service and meal are designed to last about one hour. Takeout meals will be available. The services and lunches will be held on March 1, 8, 15, 22, and 29. If Botetourt County Public Schools are closed because of inclement weather, the service will be canceled. Everyone is invited to join to these services during the season of Lent.
Cloverdale Brethren Food Pantry open
The Cloverdale Church of the Brethren Food Pantry is open to the public Monday-Friday, 9 a.m.-1 p.m.
Community Playground dedication Feb. 18
The public is invited to the dedication and ribbon cutting for the new Community Playground at Cloverdale Church of the Brethren. It will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 18. Refreshments will be served in the fellowship hall after the ceremony.
Springwood Food Pantry open Feb. 18
The Springwood Baptist Food Pantry will be open on Saturday, Feb. 18 from 9-10:30 a.m. The pantry is located at 88 Copps Hill Road, Buchanan. This pantry is a drive through pantry, so clients may remain in their cars and volunteers will load the food for them. The pantry is open each month on the third Saturday from 9-10:30 a.m. It is a partner with Feeding America Southwest Virginia and anyone in need of food is invited.
Shrove Tuesday Supper at Ebenezer UMC
Ebenezer United Methodist Church will have a Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper February 21 from 5 till 7p.m. Instead of a set price, donations or canned goods for the food pantry at Troutville Baptist Church are requested. Ebenezer is located at 85 Nace Road, Troutville. All are invited.
GriefShare begins March 2 at St. Mark’s
St. Mark’s United Methodist Church will begin a new season of GriefShare on Thursday, March 2. Anyone who has lost a loved one is welcome at either of the two sessions: 10-11:30 a.m. or 6:30-8 p.m. A video will be viewed at the beginning of each class with group discussion to follow. There is a workbook that will be given free to all participants that can be used to take notes with the video and then taken home with devotionals that can be read during the week. The group will meet in the fellowship hall honoring the optional use of facemasks and distancing.
