The James River and Lord Botetourt swim teams competed in state championship meets last week in their final swims of the high school season. The Class 2 meet was held at the Christiansburg Aquatic Center and the Class 3 meet was at Swim RVA in Richmond.

For River, Walker Wilson placed fifth overall in the state in the 100 Butterfly and sixth overall in the state in the 50 freestyle. He set a personal record in both events with a time of 1:02.08 in the Fly and 24.06 in the 50 Free.

The boys 200 freestyle relay placed 11th overall in the state. That team consisted of Ethan Smith, Damien Mitchell, David Merritt, and Wilson. They had a time of 1:47.46.

Lord Botetourt’s girls finished 14th in the Class 3 meet in Richmond as Maggie Walker took the team championship. Layne Jones of LB finished second in the 200 Free with a time of 1:52.10 and fourth in the 100 Back in 57.22.
