Business leaders endorse candidates

I am pleased to announce that on May 18, 2023, the Business Leadership Fund, a local political action committee representing the regional business community, announced its endorsement of incumbents Billy Martin (Blue Ridge District) and Mac Scothorn (Valley District) for re-election to the Botetourt County Board of Supervisors in the upcoming Republican primary election on June 20. In addition, the BLF announced its endorsement of Brandon Nicely, who is running to replace retiring incumbent Richard Bailey in the Fincastle District.

Candidates for the Board of Supervisors were sent questionnaires that asked for their positions on local and regional issues that affect the region’s business climate and quality of life. After receipt and review of candidate responses, the board of directors of the Business Leadership Fund endorsed  the candidates it believed  were best suited to support or enhance Botetourt County’s  role in regional partnerships and that would  promote pro-economic development policies and would support quality education and community development.

I have been a strong advocate of the work of the Business Leadership and was a founding member of the organization. The Business Leadership Fund has strived to promote pro-regional cooperation and pro-economic development candidates for local government office in the Roanoke Valley for the last 20 years. They believe Botetourt County is an integral part of the economic vitality and quality of life in the region.

Early in-person voting is occurring now through June 17 to nominate our Republican candidates for Board of Supervisors for the Blue Ridge and Valley Magisterial Districts, who will represent the Republican Party in the general election in November.  You can also vote in-person on June 20 at your normal polling place.

Please join me, the board of directors of the Business Leadership Fund and your neighbors and friends who believe in quality local government and give Billy Martin, Mac Scothorn and Brandon Nicely your vote and your support for election to the Botetourt County Board of Supervisors.

Supports Scothorn for supervisor

I am writing this letter in support of Dr. Mac Scothorn, as he runs for re-election to the Valley District seat on the Botetourt County Board of Supervisors.  During his tenure on the board, Mac has fostered a thriving local economy that provides opportunities for us all.  He and his fellow board members have not only attracted new businesses, they have also supported existing businesses, large and small, to create jobs and increase the quality of life for everyone in our community.

Under his leadership, the board has promoted an environment that encourages growth and innovation, collaborating with local organizations and businesses to streamline processes and offer incentives for business development. By investing in our infrastructure and promoting our county’s unique assets, he has helped position Botetourt County as a prime location for business and entrepreneurs.

I have personally known Mac for almost 35 years.  Mac is a caring, dedicated, and kind person who gives his all to his family, friends, patients and community. Botetourt County is lucky to have someone like Dr. Scothorn to continue to dedicate his time, energy and guidance to our current and future challenges and opportunities.

Please join me in supporting Mac with your vote. Early voting is now available and will continue through  June 17 at the Registrar’s Office in Fincastle, or you can vote in person on June 20 at your regular Valley polling location.
