Norma Jean Preston Wells, 94, of Buchanan passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 14, 2024. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford Eugene Wells; son, Roger Wells; parents, Hopwood and Mary Preston; brothers and sisters, S. Balthus Preston, Frances Graham, Betty Cook, and Frank Preston; nieces, Teresa Mitchell and Dana Titta; and beloved dog, Mandy.
She was a member of Trinity UMC, United Methodist Women, Aglow International, and Jefferson School of Nursing Alumni Association. Norma grew up in Herndon Heights, West Virginia, attended Berea College, and graduated as a Registered Nurse from the Jefferson Hospital School of Nursing, Class of 1952. She married Cliff in June 1953 and settled in Buchanan where she lived until her death. She enjoyed gardening, reading, bowling, community service, caring for her pets, farming, and spending time with her family and friends.
She is survived by her son, Joe Wells (Charles Chapin); grandson, Zachary (Irene) Hardy; great-grandchildren, Avery, Davis, and Luke; nieces, Linda Gooding, Betty Means, Susan Wilder, and Sue Osborne-Bailey and their spouses; nephews, John Preston, Stephen Graham, David Graham, and Kenneth Graham and their spouses; numerous grand nieces and nephews; many friends from her church family and community; and her beloved cat, Sam.
Memorial services were held at 12 noon Saturday, January 20, 2024, in Trinity United Methodist Church.
