The Lord Botetourt girls are atop the Blue Ridge District standings in soccer with the tournament tentatively scheduled to begin next week. Botetourt has three road games this week to close out the regular season.

Last Tuesday in Moneta the girls lost a district game for the first time when they fell to host Staunton River, 2-1. Bria Harvey scored LB’s goal as the Eagles moved to within one game of first place LB in the Blue Ridge standings.

On Friday in Daleville the Cavs bounced back with a vengeance, defeating visiting William Byrd 8-1. Emma Rice scored four goals in this game to give her 100 in her high school career. Also scoring were Emma Ruhman, Katherine Woodward and Harvey. Ruhlman, Lily Mosley, Rice and Harvey had assists.

Botetourt was scheduled to return to action with a game at William Fleming on Tuesday. The Cavs are at William Byrd for a rematch today and they’ll wrap up the regular season Friday at Northside.
