Gladys Edwards Cronise, 95, of Roanoke and formerly of Troutville, died on Sunday, July 28, 2024.
She was born on February 13, 1929 in Crumpler, W.Va., to the late Coy and Bessie Shilling, and was also preceded in death by her husbands, Lawrence J. Edwards and Cyrus Cronise; two sisters, Vanola Williamson and Madeline Hall; and two brothers, Carl Shilling and Thomas Maxey.
Gladys is survived by her four children, Douglas Edwards, Crystal Bryant (Jimmy), Tommy Edwards, Barry Edwards (Belinda); seven grandchildren, Jimmy Bryant, Jr. (Debbie), Travis Bryant (Mendy), Chelsea Wimmer (Jacob), Tessa Haynes (Joe), Lauren Moore (Brandon), Sarah Edwards, Emily Dooley (Branden); 13 great-grandchildren, Lucas and Cory Bryant, Jordan and Chase Wimmer, Colton, Grayson and Cooper Haynes, Beau Moore, Mila and Micah Edwards, McKinley, Jack, and Madison Dooley.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, July 31, 2024 at Oakey’s East Chapel with the Rev. Carol Johnston officiating. Interment will follow in Troutville Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Troutville Baptist Church Food Pantry.
