After two rounds the Lord Botetourt golfers are threatening to run away and hide in the Blue Ridge District regular season of “mini-matches.” The Cavaliers had the low score for the second week at Franklin County’s Copper Cove on August 20.

The Cavaliers shot a team score of 299 to outscore host Franklin County by 21 strokes. Northside was third at 339, followed by William Byrd at 345 and Staunton River at 347.

After 36 holes Lord Botetourt now leads by 52 strokes with a total of 593. Franklin County is second at 645 and Byrd retained third place and is now at 664.

LB’s Alisa Davidova was medalist for the second week in a row. She shot one-under-par 71 to win the round with Nick Messenger of Franklin County finishing second with 73. LB had the next three low scores with Aidan Mitchell at 74, Hayden Firestone at 76 and Jeremy Simmons at 78. Davidova, Simmons and Mitchell own the top three spots in the season race after two rounds.

“We have a good lead but we want to play better golf each week,” said Cavalier coach Todd Smith. “

This week the tour was scheduled to stop at Hanging Rock in Roanoke County on Tuesday. Next Tuesday, September 3, the golfers are at Blue Hills.
