Mary Jane Linkenhoker Thomas, 77, of Eagle Rock, passed away Friday, September 6, 2024.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Luther Martin and Leona Pullen Linkenhoker; brothers, Mike Linkenhoker and Carlyle Linkenhoker; and sister, Joyce Huffman.
She had retired from Botetourt County School System where she had worked as a teacher and cafeteria manager for Eagle Rock Elementary and James River High School for many years. She sang and played bass with her family group, the Eagle Mountain Gospel Band.
Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Bernard Edward Thomas; daughter, Pamela Thomas; son and daughter-in-law; Bernie, Jr. and Anna Thomas; sisters and brother-in-law, Grace and Charles Shull, Barbara Bradley, Martha Clark, and Betty Trail; brothers, John and Carlyle Linkenhoker; granddaughters, Brittany Thomas and special friend, Chad Clement, Emileigh and Andrew Crouse; great-grandchildren, Raiden Wilson, Alex West, Carlis Crouse, Ruby Crouse, Liam Crouse, Christopher Crouse, and Drew Crouse; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family received friends at Forest Grove Baptist Church, 693 Mt. Moriah Road, Eagle Rock, on Tuesday, September 10, 2024, from 11 a.m. to 12 noon. Her funeral service began at 12 noon at the church with Pastor Jerry A. Marsh officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery.
