The Botetourt County School Board recognized its August Employees of the Month at its regular monthly meeting last Thursday in Fincastle.

Ronald Young, a custodian at Cloverdale Elementary School, received a certificate of recognition from the board. Superintendent Dr. Jonathan Russ shared a statement by one of Young’s nominations – “Mr. Young goes out of his way to make sure every teacher and student has everything they need to succeed… He is always connecting with students and staff. He goes above and beyond for Cloverdale Elementary.”

Kristi Martin, a fourth grade teacher at Breckinridge Elementary, also received a certificate. Russ read a statement about Martin’s nomination, “Mrs. Martin is new to us this year and has fit in beautifully and is an amazing addition to an already amazing team. Her passion for learning is contagious and her classroom is an absolute joy daily.”

Russ also received the honorary State Degree from Lord Botetourt High School’s Future Farmers of America (FFA) Chapter for being a great supporter of agricultural education. The State FFA Degree is the highest honor that can be bestowed upon an individual by the FFA.
