River runners are ninth at Augusta Invitational

The James River boys and girls both finished ninth in the Augusta Invitational cross country meet, hosted by Wilson Memorial High School last Saturday. The Turner Ashby boys and Waynesboro girls were team winners as 29 schools sent runners to the meet.

Aiden Bartilis had the best finish for James River with a 24^th place in the boys race, followed closely by Braden Jones in 28^th. Also scoring for the Knights were Mark Voight in 46^th, Tristian Capo-Lopez in 59^th and Barrett Pace in 81^st.

For the girls Sarah Laughridge was first across the line with a 54^th place finish. Also scoring were Kaylee Dunbar in 59^th, Holly Weddle in 69^th, Jordyn Ives in 70^th and Jacey Walker in 73^rd.

In the girls middle school race Maddie Davidson was second while Zoey Serrano took 19^th.

The Knights are back in action this Saturday when they run at the Jackson River Sports Complex in a meet hosted by Alleghany.
