The Lord Botetourt volleyball team remained undefeated with a three set win at Abingdon on Monday. The Cavaliers downed the Falcons 25-14, 25-17 and 25-13.
“I’m proud of our girls for getting the job done on the road,” said LB coach Samantha Wilkins, who has yet to lose a match as head coach. “We played a tough region team but we did a great job passing on serve receive and on defense that allowed us to be aggressive and run our offense to get the win in three.”
Becca Huddleston led the Cavaliers with 11 kills. Skylar Morris was high with 36 assists and Bria Harvey had 30 digs for the girls. Erica Gergely had six kills and 22 digs.
With the win the Cavaliers improved to 6-0 on the season. Last week at home they disposed of Cave Spring in three sets in Daleville. LB won 25-19, 25-21 and 25-19.
Huddleston had a dozen kills and two blocks in this one while Gergley had nine kills and eight digs. Morris dished out 34 assists.
LB is back home Thursday to host 4-3 Blacksburg. Next Monday they return the trip to Cave Spring and, a day later on September 24, they open their Blue Ridge District season with a game against Staunton River in Moneta.
