The 2024 Fincastle Festival takes place this Saturday from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m.
Historic Fincastle, Inc.’s annual Fincastle Festival will be held this Saturday from 9 a.m.-4 p.m., rain or shine. Those who have followed the recent articles on this event will already know there will be something for everyone.
Each year, HFI showcases many local artists and artistic crafters from parts near and far. Two of the town-based artists will have their shops open for visitors to see, and others will showcase their creations along Roanoke Street. The many crafters will be spread throughout Main, Roanoke, and Murray Streets with offerings ranging from jewelry, pottery creations, and pieces from woodcrafters, to “smashed glass” art and other creative glass art and homemade food items. As always, there will be many other varied creations from soaps to personal products to handbags and clothing and honey and herbs…and more. Blacksmith Dewey Baker will again be at the Wysong Blacksmith Shop.
While “shopping ‘til you drop” is always a part of festivals, this year’s festival will have many other things to see and do. At the Wysong Blacksmith Shop, along with Dewey Baker, there will be history talks throughout the day, so stop in and relax while listening. Visit the old church at the bottom of Main Street and find beautiful vintage quilts on display. Corvettes will be displayed along Roanoke Street to Back Street, and the fun Little Critters Petting Zoo and Pony Rides will be down on Murray Street, along with the Revolutionary War Interpreters and Native American demonstrators.
The Fincastle Fire Department is celebrating its 77th anniversary with displays of department history and “fire gear” for all to see. The fire trucks will be available for folks to climb on and “Make like a Fireman.”
HFI will be running a free shuttle all day that will circle the festival and will drive through the fire department’s property so folks can easily move between the two venues.
