The Blue Ridge District will begin intra-district play in volleyball this week and Lord Botetourt is looking like the team to beat. The Cavaliers completed their non-district schedule Monday with an 8-0 record.
LB defeated Blacksburg in Daleville last Thursday in three sets, 25-18, 25-15 and 25-14 as Becca Huddleston had 11 kills, four blocks and an ace. Then, on Monday, the Cavs finished off their non-district schedule with a three set win over a strong Cave Spring team, sweeping the season series with the Knights.
The Cavaliers were scheduled to open BRD play Tuesday in Moneta against Staunton River but results were too late for publication. On Thursday they host William Byrd.
“William Byrd is going to be tough this year with some great outside hitters,” said LB coach Samantha Wilkins. “I’m looking forward to a competitive game.”
Next week the Cavaliers will travel to William Fleming on Tuesday, then go to Northside on Thursday, October 3.
