This week is Fire Prevention Week in Botetourt (October 6-12), urging all the county residents to make sure homes have working smoke alarms and to support the many public safety activities and efforts of Botetourt’s fire and emergency services. In an announcement made by the department on social media last week, Botetourt County Public School’s elementary students were invited to participate in the second annual Fire Prevention Week Art Contest. Participants were encouraged to create artwork in a medium of their choice surrounding the 2024 Fire Prevention Week theme, “Smoke Alarms: Make Them Work for You.” The winners of this year’s art contest are listed below:
1st Place: Teagan Kern – Eagle Rock Elementary 5th grade
2nd Place: Lily Halsey – Colonial Elementary 5th Grade
3rd Place – Karter Prusak – Colonial Elementary 3rd Grade
