Sirens and Salutes, a local nonprofit organization that honors and memorializes veterans and first responders, has been actively placing specially made markers on Veterans graves who were Killed In Action (KIA).  The organization asked a local Eagle Rock resident who does metal working if he would make the KIA markers, and they purchased them through him. So far, 20 markers have been placed in Botetourt and Vinton area cemeteries, as well as sending one to New York for placement as well.
