District 24-C LCIF Coordinator Frederick Carroll attended the Daleville Fincastle Lions meeting on October 15 and presented the club with a special award for its financial support of the Lions International charitable organization, the Lions Clubs International Foundation. The local Lions club was only one of four clubs of the 50 clubs in the district to receive the Model Club award. Reynolds receives Lions’ Melvin Jones Award
At their October 15 meeting, the Daleville Fincastle Lions presented one of their members, Betty Reynolds, with the coveted Melvin Jones Award. This is the highest honor awarded to a Lion in Lionism. Reynolds joined the Vinton Luncheon Club in 2010 and served as president of that club. After she moved to Fincastle, she transferred to the Daleville Fincastle Lions Club in 2020.
Since joining this club, she has been a very active member, serving as the Eyeglasses Assistance Coordinator and one of the key volunteers at the Botetourt Food Pantry. The club’s Signature Project is their Youth Vision Screening Program. This program provides vision screening for all of the elementary, middle and high schools in Botetourt County. Reynolds has been the coordinator of this program for the last two years.
