Norman Talbert Abshire, Sr., 80, of Front Royal, formerly of Buchanan, passed away Tuesday, June 18, 2019.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest, Sr. and Lois Abshire; brothers, Ernest, Jr., and Roland Abshire; sister, Blanche Hammond; and son-in-law, James Bailey III.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Wanda Neal Abshire; children and spouses, Ronnie and Sharon Abshire, Vicky and Jeff Smith, Sheila and Dave Tyson, Wallace Abshire, Cyndi Bailey, and Norman Abshire Jr; 17 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren; sisters and brothers-in-law, Nadine and Curtis Scaggs, Barbara and Floyd Markham, Shirley and Bill Dulaney; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held from 2-4 p.m. Sunday, June 23, at Botetourt Funeral Home, Buchanan. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 24, in the Buchanan Chapel of Botetourt Funeral Home with Pastor Tom Rodgers officiating. Interment was in Lithia United Methodist Church Cemetery.
