Quinn Receives the Bauman Scholar Award from Bridgewater
Bridgewater College recognized more than 60 outstanding students during the annual College Awards ceremony in April.
Among the students receiving awards was Hannah Quinn, a sociology and history and political science major from Blue Ridge. Quinn received the Zygmunt Bauman Scholar Award, presented to a student who demonstrates outstanding scholarship, leadership in the classroom and exemplifies academic citizenship in the Sociology Department.
Quinn is a tutor in the Sociology Department, as well as a member of the Brethren Student Movement and Bridgewater College Spiritual Life Board. She completed two research projects during her time at BC, “Political Programs: Gender is Cold War Films” and “Beauty Standards in Children.”
Quinn will be attending the University of Virginia this fall to pursue a master of public policy.
Fenster graduates from the University of Georgia
Lindsey Lambert Fenster was among the more than 7,000 graduates in the University of Georgia’s Class of 2023. Fenster, of Buchanan, received a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree.
Local residents graduate from William & Mary
The following residents recently graduated from the College of William & Mary:
Jackson Mabe, Bachelor of Arts, and Tristan Robinson, Bachelor of Science. Both are of Troutville.
Andrews graduates from Northfield Mount Hermon
Jerrel Andrews of Fincastle was among 219 students who graduated from Northfield Mount Hermon in Massachusetts on May 21.
Butler receives degree from Washington and Lee University
Emma Claire Butler of Fincastle received a Bachelor of Science degree from Washington and Lee University on May 25.
Commencement ceremonies for 453 Washington and Lee seniors were held on the university’s historic Front Lawn. Butler majored in Neuroscience.
Lloyd earns degree from Shenandoah
Shenandoah University in Winchester had 1,143 graduates receive their degrees and/or certificate during the 2022-23 academic year.
Those graduates include Elena Lloyd of Troutville, who earned a Bachelor of Business Administration
Powell is APSU graduate
Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, Tenn., recognized Sylvia Powell of Buchanan as one of the more than 1,400 graduates to receive degrees at the commencement ceremony on May 5, 2023.
Spangler is E&H graduate
Emory & Henry College graduates in spring 2023 included Ryan Spangler of Daleville.
