American Legion Post 240 will be sponsoring a scholarship to Lucas Vassar to attend the Street Survival event when it is conducted at the Salem Civic Center on Sunday, Sept. 8. Lucas is the son of Barbara and Chuck Vassar (a military veteran). Lucas’ grandfather served with the U.S. Army as a paratrooper at the World War II Battle of the Bulge.

Street Survival conducts an intensive one-day, hands-on, real world driving skills program for young adults.  The event has trained and qualified in-car driving instructors as well as classroom experience for each student.  Each individual will learn skid control and emergency lane changing.  This event is conducted on a private course, allowing students to experience abnormal vehicle behavior in a safe and supervised environment.  The cost of this class is $95 per person. For more information, contact Scott Donaldson at 540-953-2565.
