Amanda Elizabeth Lafon Harris

Amanda Elizabeth Lafon Harris of Daleville, and formerly of Blue Ridge, was born May 23, 1930 and went to be with her Lord and Savior on January 31, 2021.

Elizabeth was predeceased by her husband of 70 years, Robert James Harris, on January 4, 2020. She is survived by her three children, Belinda Harris McKee (Mike), Melonie Harris Overfelt (Rob), and Robert James Harris Jr. (Tammy).

Elizabeth is also survived by grandchildren, Luke McKee (Sara), Amanda Shaver (Mike), Tyler Murray and Hannah Harris, Great-grandchildren are Cameron and Brody McKee and Colin and Aiden Murray.

Elizabeth was a wonderful loving mother, wife and “MeeMaw.” She was a devoted homemaker and was there for her family until her children were grown. Later, she worked at Troutville Elementary School from September 1972 to June 1993. Elizabeth enjoyed crafting, beach vacations with her family, home projects and loving her grandchildren deeply.

Elizabeth was a faithful Christian all her life and belonged to several Baptist churches over the years. She was most recently a member of the North Roanoke Baptist Church.

Funeral arrangements by Oakey’s East Chapel, Bonsack. The viewing will be Saturday, February 6 at 10 a.m., with service at 11 a.m. Interment will be following the service at Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Roanoke.

The family would like to extend its deepest appreciation to The Glebe and especially to the Assisted Living staff. Also Gentle Shepherd Hospice for their care which is greatly appreciated.

In memory of our Mother, donations may be made to The Glebe Benevolent Fund at 200 The Glebe Blvd., Daleville, 24083.

Due to the Covid pandemic the family requests you take all necessary precautions and make decisions based on your well-being. Funeral home will require the wearing of masks and will follow all Virginia Covid Policies. Arrangements by Oakey’s East Chapel, 540-977-3909.
