Comrades and members of VFW Post 5895, American Legion Post 93, Sons of the Legion Squadron 93 and the Post 93 Legion Riders gathered with their families on November 10 for a Veterans Day dinner at the Botetourt Event Center.
During the event, Buchanan American Legion Post 93 presented Glen Dudley with an Honorary Life Membership for his 14 years of faithful and dedicated service to the American Legion. A Vietnam veteran, Dudley is a loyal member of the Post and epitomizes the American Legion ethos “For God and Country.”
Another highlight of the evening was a $500 donation from the Buchanan Moose Lodge presented by Moose Fellow John Ware to the VFW and Legion Posts to assist funding the Boys State program. The Posts sponsor two Boys State candidates from James River High School each year. Boys State 2024 attendee Ethan Bryant delivered an informative brief on his Boys State experience and thanked the Posts for allowing him the opportunity to attend. Ethan shared that attending Boys State was certainly a highlight of his life.
Post members thank Ray and Bobbi Sloan for graciously providing the venue for the evening.
