Amy Surratt Rookstool, 41, of Roanoke, went to be the Lord on Tuesday, July 5, 2022.
She was preceded in death by her father, Michael Surratt; and previous husband, Brian Jason Rookstool.
She graduated from James River High School and received her B.S. in History from UVA. She was a teacher at Appomattox High School and then Salem High School. She had a deep love for dogs, which led her to opening Go Big Agility Training School and to competing in a multitude of dog sports.
Amy is survived by her husband, James Miller; mother, Edith Surratt; aunt, Frances (David) Hale; cousins, Nicole Golding and Tyler Golding; and stepchildren, Elissa Miller and Amanda Miller.
A graveside service was held at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens on Tuesday, July 12, at 10 a.m. with Pastor Troy Mays officiating. Visitation took place at Simpson Funeral Home, Roanoke, on Monday, July 11, from 5-7 p.m.
