Rick Anderson was inducted into The Roanoke Valley Wrestling Hall of Fame on May 9 during a ceremony was held at Holiday Inn Tanglewood.
Anderson started wrestling in 1976 by traveling from the intermediate school to James River High School to practice with the high school team, then wrestled through high school. During the past 37 years after high school, Anderson participated on the coaching team at James River High School for several years, and has served the wrestling community in referring and helping support and work many tournaments in the Roanoke/Botetourt area. Anderson finished his wrestling career when he retired from the head coach position at Central Academy Middle School this spring.
