Attic Productions’ Youth Ensemble will present “Bad Plays Gone Wrong” at the D. Geraldine Lawson Performing Arts Center January 26-28 and February 2-4. This youth production has over 50 cast and crew members from age 6 to 17, and is a combination of two one-act plays.
Both are comedies that are actually a play within a play. “All I Really Need to Know I Learned from Being in a Bad Play” by Werner Trieschmann and directed by Kailee Weiman, is a comedic, retelling of Romeo and Juliet. It follows the disastrous backstage drama involved in producing the play from auditions and rehearsals to the final performance. “Bad Things Happen to Good Actors” by Ian McWethy and James Pizzarello, and directed by Kerry Williams, is a very lively and energetic retelling of The Wizard of Oz, where everything that could go wrong on stage actually does. Show times on Fridays are 7:30 p.m., Saturdays and Sundays at 2:30. Doors to the auditorium open for seating 30 minutes prior to performance time.
These shows are produced with special permission from Dramatic Publishing and Stage Partners. Partial funding support comes from the Virginia Commission for the Arts and the National Endowment for the Arts.
