Attic Productions has announced the return of live theatre to its stage beginning with a comedy/drama presentation of “Welcome to Mitford.” This show was adapted by Robert Inman from the popular Jan Karon series of Mitford novels and is in rehearsal now, with opening night December 2.
The novels are condensed into two acts, presented in short vignettes, and follow Father Tim Kavanaugh, a 60-year-old bachelor and Episcopal priest who lives in a small North Carolina town. His life is changed dramatically by two people: Dooley, a troubled youth for whom Father Tim becomes guardian, and Cynthia Coppersmith, a new neighbor, who becomes a love interest. There is also a host of quirky and memorable characters.
Wyatt Ewell directs a large company of talented local actors, and this show is presented by special permission of Dramatic Publishing, with partial funding by the Virginia Commission for the Arts and the National Endowment for the Arts.
Show dates are December 2-5 and 9-12. Evening performances start at 7:30 on Thursdays and Fridays, and Saturday and Sunday matinees start at 2:30. The Saturday evening show has been deleted, but a Sunday matinee performance has been added.
All adult tickets are $15, with a reduced rate for those 18 years and under and for groups of 10 or more at $12. 2020 season tickets will be honored for this production as well as for all adult shows in 2022.
