Auditions for Attic’s upcoming production of “FrUiTcAkEs” will be held on Saturday, Sept. 30 from 4 -6 p.m. and Sunday, Oct. 1 from 2-4 p.m. at the theater, 7490 Roanoke Road, Fincastle. Auditions will consist of cold readings of selections from the play. If necessary, contact the director, Wyatt Ewell (wyhoo@aol.com) to arrange an alternate audition date/time.
The production will run from November 30- December 2 and December 7-9. Rehearsals will be scheduled mostly on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday evenings.
Following are the cast requirements, along with approximate ages of the characters.
Mack Morgan –makes whirligigs for a living and sells Christmas trees every year (60s)
Beebo Dantzler– the town’s only policeman (30-50)
Skeeter– a local fisherman and lover of poetry (flexible age)
Rick Morgan – Mack’s son (30-40)
Jamie – a runaway boy (12-15)
Little Beebo – The Dantzlers’ son (10-12)
4 or more boys (8+)
11 + Females
Betty Jane Dantzler – Beebo’s wife, who directs the annual Christmas pageant (30-50)
Miss Sarah – grouchy spinster who makes hundreds of fruitcakes each year with her sister (75-85)
Miss Alice – Miss Sarah’s younger sister, more gentle and caring (70-80)
Mattie Sue – a neighbor who has been married six times (flexible age)
