Thursday, March 5, beginning at 6:30 p.m. the Buchanan Town Improvement Society welcomes the public to a presentation by local author Valerie Brugh at the Wilson Warehouse. Brugh will be in character reading excerpts from her recently published book, “Mary Johnston Memoirs.” Johnston is one of Brugh’s ancestors.
Johnston (1870-1936) grew up in Buchanan, across from the Wilson Warehouse. She was a nationally acclaimed novelist, suffragist and social advocate. She was one of America’s best-selling authors during her career. Three silent movies were adapted from her novels.
Her well-known novels include “To Have and to Hold” and Civil War novels such as “The Long Roll.”
There is no charge to attend. Signed copies of Valerie Brugh’s book will be available.
