Norman Lewis Baker, 80, of Fincastle, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, July 11, 2019 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial.
Norman was born September 13, 1939 in Roanoke and lived all of his life in Fincastle. He was the son of the late Marvin Lewis and Maggie Smith Baker.
Norman retired from Botetourt County after 40 years of service as a mechanic for multiple county vehicles including police cars, the sheriff’s office cars, and worked at the bus garage. He was member at Grace Bible Church. Norman enjoyed hunting, being outdoors, photography, country, and spending time with family and friends. He was also a member of the NRA and the Ridge Rifle Association.
He is survived by his wife, Janie Oyler Baker; nieces who are like daughters, Diane Oyler (Chris) Elmore of Roanoke, Sherry Manello of Troutville, and Rachel Oyler Hale and Denny Johnson of Roanoke; grandchildren, Tyler and Blake Flinchum, Joey and Juliana “JuJu” Manello, Daniel and Trinity Hale; one great-grandchild, Daisy Jane Hale; many loving friends, neighbors, co-workers, and church family members.

A Celebration of Norman’s life was held at 4 p.m. Sunday July 14 at Rader Funeral Home, Daleville with Pastor Jay Robinette officiating. Burial was in Mt. Union Cemetery.
