Edgar K. Baker has retired from the board of directors of Bank of Botetourt after 17 years of service.
Baker is president and a director of Cavalier Equipment Corp. in Botetourt County. He serves as chairman of the board of Rockydale Quarry Corp., and currently serves on the board of directors of the Friendship Foundation.
His previous positions include president of Contracting Enterprises, president of Kav Kan Corp. and vice president of Roanoke Welding Co. He would eventually become a board director of all three of those companies in which he was employed. He is also a prior director of the Botetourt County Industrial Development Authority and Appomattox Lime Co.
Baker is a graduate of Danville Technical Institute. He has been active in local business for over 35 years and previously served on a local advisory board of a Virginia bank. “Baker’s knowledge of real estate, coupled with extensive experience in business transactions, brought valuable insight to the Bank of Botetourt board. His intimate knowledge of the Bank’s Botetourt, Roanoke and Franklin County markets added insight and improved the bank’s strategic planning. His wisdom and guidance have been consistently helpful,” a news release from the bank said.
Baker was honored at the May 16 shareholders meeting for his years of dedicated leadership and service to the board of directors.
Chartered in 1899, Bank of Botetourt operates 12 retail offices in Botetourt, Rockbridge, Roanoke, and Franklin counties and in the City of Salem. Bank of Botetourt also operates a mortgage division, Virginia Mountain Mortgage, and a financial services division, Botetourt Wealth Management.
