Bank of Botetourt has promoted Barbara G. Anderson to Senior Vice President – Chief Risk and Compliance Officer.

Anderson has been with the bank for 22 years and for the past two years, in addition to her job as Chief Compliance Officer, she assumed the role of Chief Risk Officer, which is responsible for the oversight of outsourced internal audit, regulatory oversight, risk management, risk oversight, and numerous compliance areas within the bank. She will continue to work from the bank’s Care Center Office in Buchanan.

With more than 32 years in banking, Anderson was previously with Central Fidelity Bank and Wachovia. She is a 2001 graduate from the Virginia Bankers School of Bank Management, which is held at the University of Virginia’s Darden School of Business and is facilitated by the Virginia Bankers Association. She also received her certification as a Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager (CRCM) in 2015.

Bank President and CEO G. Lyn Hayth III said, “We are looking forward to having Barbara join our senior management team. She has performed at the highest level for Bank of Botetourt throughout her time here and brings strong energy and guidance to our bank as we grow and continue to operate in a high regulatory environment.”

Anderson grew up in Botetourt County and is active with the Lord Botetourt High School’s Sports Booster program.  She also serves as a member of the Virginia Bankers Association’s Security and Enterprise Risk Management Committee. She and her husband Stephen currently reside in the Cloverdale area and have three children.

Bank of Botetourt was chartered in 1899 and operates 12 retail offices in Botetourt, Rockbridge, Roanoke, and Franklin counties and the City of Salem. Bank of Botetourt also operates a mortgage division, Virginia Mountain Mortgage, and a financial services division, Botetourt Wealth Management.
