Bank of Botetourt has promoted seven of its staff to vice president positions.

Hart, Senior Vice President, Chief Strategic and Retail Officer.
Amie A. Chernault has been promoted to Vice President, Market Manager for the Cave Spring and Salem Offices. She is based out of the bank’s Cave Spring Office. Chernault brings over 37 years of experience in the banking industry. She graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University with a degree in Business Administration, a concentration in Finance and minors in Economics and Psychology. She serves as the treasurer on the Board of the Salem-Roanoke County Chamber of Commerce and is a member of its Executive Board. Chernault was born in Rochester, N.Y., and moved to the Salem area where she attended Andrew Lewis and Salem high schools. A resident of the Cave Spring area, Amie enjoys reading, creating greeting cards, traveling, and spending time with her friends, family, especially her two sons, Robby and Timmy.
Susan Larkin has been promoted to Vice President – Treasury Services. Larkin has over 26 years of banking experience and will focus on growing relationships with the bank’s commercial lenders and business bankers. She will provide support for new and existing customers for all products and services including online banking, wire transfers, ACH, remote deposit capture, CDARS (Certificate of Deposit Registry Service) and ICS (Insured Cash Sweep). Her expertise and experience include working with government entities and non-profits. She is from Southern Pines, N.C., and has strong roots within the community. A graduate of James Madison University with a degree in English and Communications, she serves on the Ronald McDonald House of SWVA Charities Board of Directors and is an Ambassador for the Roanoke Regional Chamber of Commerce. She enjoys traveling and digital scrapbooking and resides in Southwest Roanoke County with her husband, Pete. They have a grown son, Justin.
Karen R. Newbill has been promoted to Vice President, Market Manager. She has 46 years of banking experience, 26 of them with Bank of Botetourt. She is a graduate of the Virginia Bankers School of Bank Management. The three-year school is a multidimensional educational experience in banking sponsored by the Virginia Bankers Association (VBA) in cooperation with the Darden School of Business at the University of Virginia (UVA). She is active in the community and serves as a volunteer with the Buchanan Theatre. Newbill oversees the bank’s Buchanan, Eagle Rock, and Natural Bridge offices. In her spare time, she enjoys hiking, gardening, caring for her adopted pets and spending time with her family, especially her two grandsons, Jack and Cole Thrasher. A native of Botetourt County, she resides in Buchanan, has two grown sons, Daniel and Tyree Thrasher, and lives with her husband, Chris.
Sheila M. Petty has been promoted to Vice President, Branch Manager at the Daleville Town Center office. After attending Virginia Western Community College, she began her banking career in 1995, with more than 27 years of industry experience. A lifelong resident of Fincastle, Petty has deep roots and a strong sense of community. She has served as a member of the Fincastle Volunteer Fire Department and the Daleville/Fincastle Lions Club. She enjoys the outdoors, and especially spending time with family and friends. She resides in Fincastle with her husband, Don, and their son, Donnie.
Tina Simpson has been promoted to Vice President, Branch Manager at the bank’s Lexington office. She has been in the banking industry for 28 years and was previously with the Bank of Rockbridge. She was raised in the Charlottesville area and graduated from Natural Bridge High School. She is a member of the Moose Lodge, active in the Lexington-Rockbridge Area Chamber of Commerce and supportive of various other community organizations. She resides in Buena Vista and enjoys traveling, festivals and spending time with her family.
Lisa Spangler has been promoted to Vice President, Business Relationship Officer. She has been in banking 32 years. She is a graduate of Franklin County High School, studied accounting at Virginia Western Community College and graduated from Virginia Bankers School of Bank Management at UVA’s Darden School of Business. While she covers the entire bank footprint, she spends time in the Smith Mountain Lake and Vinton offices. Her favorite hobby is listening to music and riding her motorcycle. She also enjoys watching college and NFL football and attends Virginia Tech home games when possible. She and her husband, Vance, reside in Hardy with their 11-year-old Akita named Maui. They have two grown children, Brandon and Taylor, and enjoy spending time with their grandchildren, Holland and Beckett Chandler.
Marcus T. Wade has been promoted to Vice President – Business Relationship Officer at the bank’s Salem Office. He has been in banking for more than 18 years, all of which have been with Bank of Botetourt. Prior to banking, he worked in sales and in retail as a shift supervisor. Wade attended Bluefield College where he earned his bachelor’s degree in Organizational Management and Development. He is a graduate of the Virginia Bankers School of Bank Management and in his final year at the Graduate School of Banking (GSB) at Louisiana State University. The GSB three-year program provides courses covering all aspects of banking, economics, and related subjects. He is active in his community, serving as a board member for Star City Rec Club and Virginia Warriors AAU. A Deacon and Chairman of Youth Ministry with High Street Baptist Church, he is also a member of the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee with the Virginia Bankers Association and Bank of Botetourt and serves as a member of the Kiwanis Club of Salem. In his spare time, he enjoys coaching, fishing, hunting, and spending time with his family. He resides in Roanoke and has two children, Kennady and Kaiden.
