Bingo to benefit The Glebe Benevolent Fund and the Daleville/Fincastle Lions Club will be held on Saturday, March 15, at 11 a.m. The doors will open at 10:30 a.m. at The Glebe, 200 Glebe Boulevard in Daleville.  All bingo prizes will be Pampered Chef and Thirty One products, with a cover-all grand prize valued over $197.

Tickets are being sold in advance for $40, which includes a buffet lunch, by contacting Lowell Skelton at 540-420-2427 or Diane Taylor, 540-520-7967. Due to renovations, the event will not be in the same room and seating is limited to 35 players, so get tickets before they are sold out. To park, go to the right of the main building entrance and park on the lower lot. A shuttle will be provided so residents do not lose their parking spaces.

There will be door prize drawings and a 50/50 drawing. There are 20 rounds of bingo, a door prize ticket, plus a cover-all (black out) round for the grand prize included for $40 in advance.  Additional bingo cards, cover-all cards, and door prizes tickets will be available for purchase.

Lions conduct vision screenings in county schools

Lions Clubs of Botetourt County have completed the vision screening in the elementary, middle and high schools in Botetourt County. A total of 1,283 students were screened and approximately 10% or 128 were referred to optometrists for further evaluation. The lead Lions Club in this effort was the Daleville Fincastle Lions Club. They were assisted by the Buchanan Lions Club at Buchanan Elementary and James River High School. Pictured above are the Lions that did the bulk of the screening, from left, Betty Reynolds, Vision Screening coordinator, and Lions Pat Tayloe and Eric Whalen. Other Lions who assisted with this project from the Daleville Fincastle Lions Club were Kathy Caldwell, Lowell Skelton, Teresa Fridley, Teri Walker and Denise Scothorn. Lions from the Buchanan Club who assisted were President Tim Heinlein and Jeanne Cook.
