Elise Buchanan, age 10, chose donations to Alleghany County Humane Society Animal Shelter over personal gifts for her birthday earlier this month. Her friends contributed $65 and two bags of food for the shelter. Elise’s family has adopted two dogs and a cat from this facility over the last several years.
