The Lord Botetourt baseball team got off to a great start with a 19-5 win over Alleghany in Low Moor last Friday. The Cavaliers pounded out 16 hits in the win.

Owen Prince led the attack with a four-for-four day, including a home run, a double and two runs batted in. Conner Fuhrman was three-for-four with a pair of doubles and three RBIs. Three other Cavs had two hits apiece, Luke Richards, Nathan Prince and Colin Sell.

Matt Oliver started on the mound for LB and went three and two-third innings to pick up the win. He allowed two earned runs on six hits while fanning three and walking two. Nathan Prince pitched the final inning and a third, getting all four outs on strikeouts.

β€œIt was a good start to the season and nice to finally be back on the ball field with these guys,” said LB coach Todd Smith.

The Cavs are back in action Thursday with a home game against William Fleming, and Alleghany will return the trip to Daleville on Friday. Both games start at 5:30 p.m.
