The Lord Botetourt boys were team runner-up to champion Abingdon in the Region 3D track meet at Staunton River High School last week. The girls finished tied for eighth as Christiansburg won the region team title.
Abingdon’s boys scored 121 points to win the championship. Botetourt had 77, one point more than host Staunton River, who finished third with 76.
The top six in each event scored in the meet and the top four advanced to the state meet. The boys had one region champion, Dylan Knick, who won the 300 hurdles with a time of 42.77. Dylan was also fourth in the 110 hurdles, fifth in the long jump and was on the second place 4×100 team with Joey Isaacs, Zion Woody and KJ Bratton.
Isaacs took third in the 100 and fourth in the 200. Bratton was fourth in the 100.
Elijah Rose took third in the high jump and fourth in the long jump. Rye Jackson was third in the 800 and ran on the fourth place 4×800 relay team with Carter Hudson, Tristan Marshall and Evan Gates. Hudson was fifth in the 1,600 and Gates was fifth in the 3,200.
In the throwing events, Kendall Howard took third in the shot put. Dmetri Toliver was fourth in both the shot and discus.
For the girls, Maddie Malue placed second in the 100 hurdles with a time of 17.93 and Jillian Harris took fourth in the 100 hurdles and sixth in the 300 hurdles. The girls 4×100 relay team of Alexa Carillo, Annalise Coon, Elizabeth Meadows and Nicole Paquette was sixth.
The girls scored 14 points to tie Bassett for eighth in the region.
