There are six 1732-1932 George Washington Bicentennial Commemorative Plates displayed on the mantle in the Botetourt Museum of History & Culture. They were made in 1932 by Crown Ducal in England. The plates honor the birth of George Washington on February 22, 1732, in Westmoreland County, Va. The one shown is titled “Washington and his family.” The collection is on loan from Ed and Betty Holt. It is on display to coincide with the DAR America 250 Patriots Marker that was dedicated on May 18, 2024, in the front yard of the BCHS Museum in Fincastle.
