This photograph was taken in front of the Botetourt County Courthouse about 1950. It was donated to the Botetourt Museum of History and Culture by Marla Jean Johnson Jordan. Her parents ran several restaurants in Fincastle and built the structure where Heritage Market is now along Rt. 220.
Shown sitting on the stone wall is George W. Brown with the hat, boots and dog. He was known as the “man about town.” Sitting next to him is Hyster Nelson. This photograph is upstairs where the history of the courthouse is showcased.
