Cooking at home has become important during this pandemic but in earlier days it was essential. The 1833 cookbook shown here is “The American Frugal Housewife Dedicated to those who are not Ashamed of Economy” by Mrs. Child. There are several 18th and 19th century cooking artifacts in the Courthouse Gallery that were donated to the Botetourt County Historical Museum by generous citizens to help preserve history.
